Company Background

Functional Genetics, Inc. (FGI) is focused on developing new antibody-based therapeutics that can prevent or treat infections by a broad-spectrum of viruses. Our commercial product focus has targeted three broad areas: Respiratory viruses (RSV, Influenza), Hepatitis viruses (HBV, HCV) and Sexually-transmitted viruses (HIV, Herpes).

FGI commenced operations in 2001 to capitalize on a new technology for target discovery, Random Homozygous Gene Perturbation (RHGP). RHGP combines state-of-the art molecular biology and functional understanding of cell behavior to find rapid and elegant solutions to many complex biological problems.

Since 2003, the corporate strategy has been to demonstrate the advantages of host targeting for infectious disease, advance product development and maximize capital efficiency through aggressive recruitment of non-dilutive working capital from government grants and contracts. This strategy allowed the company to generate significant value and dramatically expanded its intellectual property and expertise. As a result, the Company is now transitioning from research to development with its first human clinical trials for its lead compound FGI-101-1A6.
